
Kevin Sampsell is the author of the novel, Baby in the Night.
As the editor and publisher of Future Tense Books, he has worked with numerous influential small press authors since 1992.
Also known for his work as an events coordinator and “small press champion” at Powell’s Books, he has hosted over 1,000 authors since 1998 and curates the annual Smallpresspalooza marathon reading. Outside of Powell’s, he has hosted the Summer Park Reading Series as well as events at other venues.
As a collage artist, Kevin has shown collages around the country and his art has been featured on book and magazine covers, album covers, and movie posters. His book of poems and collages, I Made an Accident was published by Clash Books in 2022.
In 2024, he published the picture book, Sean the Stick, a collaboration with the artist Emma Jon-Michael Frank.
His stories and essays have appeared in publications and websites such as Southwest Review, Diagram, Salon, The Rumpus, McSweeney’s, Tin House, Paper Darts, Joyland, X-R-A-Y Magazine, Hobart, Longreads, Best Sex Writing 2012, and Best American Essays 2013.
